In 2012, Smith’s team won a 2013 Gold Pollie for Best Online, Social or Mobile Advertising Campaign (“AAPC” American Association of Political Consultants) for their Edie Windsor SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) campaign to end the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), a critical case to help bring marriage equality to the United States.
In 2014, Smith organized the team which created an interactive storytelling map for the City of Los Angeles Vision Zero initiative to record traffic deaths on our streets as part of a campaign to reduce fatal collisions to zero by 2025.
In 2017, Smith led the creation of RACECOUNTS.org and oversaw media relations and social media, which became a crucial racial equity narrative tool in California.
In 2018, Smith led the communications for the Equity Alliance for LA’s Kids, an alliance of organizations that successfully advocated for adopting Equity is Justice 2.0, a resolution to allocate $263 million per year for the highest-need students and schools within Los Angeles United School District.
